Smoke Over Etna
This cocktail retains the smoky essence of the mezcal while the mandarinello adds a bright citrus note, creating a delicious twist on the classic Oaxacan Old-Fashioned!
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Mezcal
0.5 oz Lucania Liquors' Mandarinello
0.25 oz Agave syrup (or simple syrup)
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
Ice cube (preferably a large cube)
Orange or mandarin peel, for garnish
Instructions:
In a mixing glass, combine the mezcal, mandarinello, agave syrup, and bitters.
Add ice and stir for about 30 seconds until the mixture is well-chilled.
Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
Express the oils from the orange or mandarin peel over the drink by twisting the peel, then drop it into the glass.
For an extra layer of complexity, light the cinnamon stick with a torch or lighter, blow it out, and place the smoldering cinnamon stick into the glass as a garnish.
